Light and Joy are about to break forth!
December 30, 2024
The shortest day of the year is now behind us and the celebration of the birth of the Christ-child brings Light and Joy in our midst!
In the dark of mid-winter, I treasure Christmas lights on our tree and the added splash of color that lights bring to our home, our street and neighborhood.
There’s a legend of The House of Many Lamps. An old church in Europe had no lights, but each pew had a place for a lamp. As the people of faith gathered each Sunday, in the dark of winter, they would attach their own small lantern to the bracket on the pew. One lantern brought a small infusion of light, but as more people gathered, the light grew and grew. The Light of Christ grew as the gathered community grew in numbers. Each person’s decision to bring their lantern amplified the light that they all experienced.
You are that light for families! Your care and support of families facing homelessness in 2024 has made you a Light as families in Bridge of Hope journey out of homelessness.
Thank you for bringing your light to shine in a dark season for your neighbors!
May joy and light break forth for you as we celebrate the birth of the Christ-child!
Merry Christmas, my friends! Keep shining your light!
