What if hope looked like the people of God ready and waiting whenever a family facing homelessness needed support and care on their journey out of homelessness?

Wouldn’t that be a beautiful gift of hope to offer families who are feeling alone, discouraged and in need of a place to live?

Looking Back:

This past fiscal year, ending March 31, you have helped make so much possible for families, including:

  • 20% increase in families served across the Bridge of Hope network over the past two years, including a 65% increase in Lancaster, PA and expansion from 0 to 18 families at Bridge of Hope @ Mel Trotter Ministries (Grand Rapids, MI).
  • Bridge of Hope Berks affiliated and is preparing to serve its first family and Neighboring church this year.
  • 91% increase in willing landlord partners, helping accelerate lease signing.
  • Over the past 3 years, through our Making Room Initiative, our network of 20 locations has decreased the days it takes from saying “yes” to a family, to helping them move into housing, from 63 days to 39 days, a 62% decrease!

This is a lot of good news!

Looking Ahead:

And here’s the hard thing I also need to share: Despite all this important and good work, family homelessness has increased by 39% in the most recent nation-wide homelessness count.

This means we still have significant work ahead of us. And we welcome your continued partnership in this work!

Serving 20% more families has increased demand for Neighboring Volunteers from Christian faith communities, extending the time to connect families with volunteers beyond our 60-day goal.

In the next few years, we are going to continue to focus on housing and landlord partnerships, while also working to engage more churches in Neighboring, so that we can introduce families to their Neighboring Volunteers in less days. Click here to learn more about our 2026-29 new strategic plan.

We know that faster connections between families and Neighboring Volunteers lead to quicker housing, supported move-ins (often with furnishings), and earlier access to critical resources like employment, childcare and transportation.

As we are serving more families, we recognize the need to now increase our church partnerships – across all Christian faith traditions!

Recently, Kait shared the following about her experience with her Bridge of Hope Neighboring Volunteers:

Bridge of Hope connected us to Neighboring Volunteers … and instead of feeling judged or alone, we were welcomed with open arms.
They didn’t just offer words.
They showed up.
They helped us move.
They helped us unpack.
They helped us settle into a new home.
And I remember thinking… “How is this real?”

My hope and prayer is that Kait’s experience becomes true for every parent who needs our help – that Neighboring Volunteers would be waiting and ready to welcome them with open arms in their hour of greatest need.
I believe this would bring deeper joy to the heart of God – and to all of us!

Wishing you joy this Spring!
