What’s your superpower?

“Hope is your superpower.” When I heard author Brian Stevenson say this recently in a podcast, I knew it to be true. At Bridge of Hope, Neighboring Volunteers have this amazing superpower of hope and we see it lived out every day.

Like these Neighboring Volunteers:

• Neighboring Volunteers from Lampeter Church of the Brethren are hosting a Valentines dinner this month for the mom and her children they are neighboring, to remind this family how much they are loved.
• A trip to a local farm was a highlight for three children in Bridge of Hope, much to the delight of two Neighboring Volunteers from Hopewell Church, while two other Neighboring Volunteers treated the mom to lunch and a refreshing walk – all in celebration of freedom after a COVID exposure quarantine in a small apartment.
• The group from Bright Side Baptist Church mobilized quickly a few weeks ago when the family they are neighboring found an apartment – pulling together furniture and helping her move in, despite wintery weather.
• Fresh vegetables dropped off for a Bridge of Hope family by a Neighboring Volunteer from Frazer Mennonite Church each week, in partnership with a local food bank.
• St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church’s group raised funds for a washer and dryer – and then installed them – so this young mom does not need to take her son out late at night to the laundry mat.
• A Neighboring Volunteer from Beulah Baptist Church who got the word out to his brother that a family needed an affordable 3 bedroom home.  Within a few days, this one connection helped make it possible for the family to move into their new rental home.
• A Neighboring Volunteer from Forks of the Brandywine Presbyterian installed an extra-long dog run cable in the Bridge of Hope family’s backyard so their beloved pet can run safely and away from the street.  The dog is overjoyed and the family is grateful.
