Over a year ago, Parthenia called 211, the human services hotline, and was referred to Bridge of Hope. A year later, she and her Neighboring Volunteers said goodbye to her 18-year-old son, Tré as he headed off to college with a football scholarship and hopes of becoming a social worker after graduation.
Tré sees how hard his mom has worked to make things better for his family. “She is the rock of this family. She pushes each of us to accomplish our dreams. That’s why I love her so much.” His family is flourishing.
What does it look, and feel like, when you are flourishing?
When our basic needs, like housing, are met and we have support and connections with people who care about us, we can begin building inner strength and resiliency. And we can flourish! It takes time to heal and rebuild, but time and time again, I see God at work as families who once had no place to call home now begin to flourish.
Read more of Parthenia and Tré’s story in our annual report.
Thanks for changing lives – from struggling to flourishing, from no place to call home to a home to return to at the end of each day!
