The Miracle of Housing in a Tough Rental Market
October 6, 2025

Maria was pregnant with twins, raising a toddler and in need of housing when she met Bridge of Hope and her Neighboring Volunteers from Church of the Ascension. Housing was the first of many miracles that came her way!
When a house was found through a Neighboring Volunteer connection, the landlord felt called to help Maria and her family by offering his rental unit at an affordable price. But some work needed to be done on the house before she could move in, and with the babies coming soon, time was not on her side. So, the Neighboring Volunteers jumped into action and worked with the landlord to complete the work themselves, allowing Maria to move into the house before the twins were born.
Maria also believes that the car donation from Bridge of Hope and help in finding reliable and affordable childcare were all miracles for her young family.
Today, Maria says, “Bridge of Hope welcomed me with nothing but love and support. I feel so grateful for the stability I have now.”
Across the Bridge of Hope network, families facing homelessness are juggling big needs including affordable rental housing, transportation and childcare. Some families, like Maria’s, need help with all three of these large expense items in order to stabilize their families.
Monthly rent varies across our Bridge of Hope locations. And childcare expenses are often as expensive as monthly rent.

Bridge of Hope, along with Neighboring Volunteers, are helping find solutions to the real struggles families facing homelessness, typically a single mother with 2-3 children, are striving to overcome.

I’m excited to share that this past year a record number of families were served: 404 parents and children were served across our Bridge of Hope network! Each parent’s journey toward stability is unique and requires different strategies and supports.
What a joy to see so many families, like Maria, feel supported on their journey toward stability and hope!
