What’s on your happiness list for 2022?

January 19, 2022

I’ve been thinking a lot about how to add joy, laughter and happiness to my life in 2022.  And how to love others in the face of our differences.  As many people are thinking about setting new goals for a new year, maybe our invitation isn’t necessarily to focus on something “new”.  Maybe it’s an old commandment that we need to re-ignite within us.  1 John 2:7, 9-10 says, Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you have had from the beginning…. Whoever says, “I am in the light,” while hating a brother or sister, is still in the darkness.  Whoever loves a brother or sister lives in the light…

What does this love look like?  Love is living out good will toward those who are struggling, those who are alone, those who cannot find a place to live.  Love is not just loving our family and our physical neighbors.  Love is being a light to all people – including single moms facing homelessness.

Are you ready to say “I am in the light” and truly show love to those around you?

Gretchen Rubin, with the Happiness Project, has inspired me to think about 22 things I want to do in 2022.  And first on my list is “Extend light and love to those facing homelessness and everyone I meet.”  Will you join me?

What’s on your list for 2022?  (Second on my list is “laughing more.”)

Warmly,

Edith Yoder, CEO
